The City of Gastonia Police Department Needs Your Help

In the past three years there have been close to 3,000 thefts from vehicles and 1500 vehicle thefts in the city of Gastonia.

By following the steps below, you can partner with us to help reduce these numbers.

To make your vehicle a harder target consider the following:

1)  When using your garage make sure your vehicle and garage are securly locked.

2)  Always lock your vehicle and take the keys out.

3)  Completely close all car windows.

4)  Try to park in well-lit areas close to your destination.

5)  Don't leave valuables in plain view.

6)  If valuable need to be left in your vehicle, place them in your trunk prior to arriving at your destination.

7)  Engrave expensive accessories.

8)  Use anit-theft devices such as a tire or steering wheel lock and an audible alarm.

9)  Take out removable radios and faceplates.

10)  Avoid parking between large vehicles as they can provide cover for thieves.

11)  Avoid leaving your vehicle running while unattended, especially while warming the vehicle.
